A fine Charles II olive wood cabinet on stand, England, late 17th century.The cabinet veneered throughout in richly figured olive wood. The interior fitted with an arrangement of small drawers around a central locking cupboard, each drawer retaining its original gilt brass drop handles and escutcheons.The cabinet stands on a later base with turned legs united by a shaped stretcher.Pieces veneered in olive wood were produced in limited numbers during the late 17th century and were highly prized for the striking natural figure of the timber.
