Description

A charming Aesthetic Movement beech wood open armchair of small proportions; a child’s or bedroom chair.

The back splat is somewhat reminiscent of the Liberty & Co “Kenilworth” design, featured in their Art Furniture catalogue, 1884, page 9. (Source: Daryl Bennett: Liberty’s Furniture 1875 – 1915: The Birth of Modern Interior Design, Antique Collectors’ Club, 2012, page 101.)

Newly reupholstered in Mulberry Lee Jofa Berber Stripe woven jute fabric with stud detailing.

English, circa 1890.
