Description

A superb Georgian mahogany chest-on-chest in excellent condition. The piece separates into two sections, making it easy to move and position within the home. The upper section features two short drawers over three graduating long drawers, all set beneath an attractive dentil cornice and a finely carved geometric frieze that continues down the canted corners. The lower section includes a brush slide above three further graduating drawers, and the whole piece stands on classic bracket feet. Each drawer is constructed with dovetail joints and fitted with elegant brass pull handles. As with all genuine antique furniture, there are minor age-related imperfections, but these only enhance the charm and authenticity of this solid, well-made chest. With its rich colouring, beautiful grain and impressive proportions, this is a striking example of Georgian craftsmanship, a piece that offers both generous storage and timeless character to any interior.
