Antique French Ormolu & Blue Enamel Decorative Box – Figural Scene – Velvet Lined – Circa 1900
A beautiful and highly decorative antique French ormolu and blue enamel box, dating to around circa 1900, featuring fine relief decoration and an elegant hinged lid.
The lid is adorned with a detailed raised figural scene depicting men and women dancing in a rural French village, creating a wonderfully romantic scene typical of French decorative objects from the turn of the 20th century.
The remainder of the box is decorated with ornate scrollwork and a rich cobalt-blue and white enamel central oval border, adding depth and colour to the finely cast ormolu (gilt-metal) framework.
Opening the hinged lid reveals a purple velvet-lined interior, making the piece ideal for use as a trinket box, jewellery box, or decorative desk or dresser box.
Elegant and highly decorative, this charming antique French enamel box would make a wonderful addition to a dressing table, desk, or antique
...collection, and is a lovely example of late 19th-early 20th-century French decorative metalwork.
