A Stunning Georgian III Mahogany Cellarette.

A truly marvellous octagonal cellarette.

This is an exceptional original George III mahogany octagonal cellarette, dating to circa 1790. It is a genuine English Georgian piece, crafted from high-quality flame Mahogany that shows a beautiful, deep grain across the lid and side panels. The edges are finished with delicate Boxwood stringing (none missing), which gives the piece a really sharp, clean look against the darker timber. It stands on its original scratch-moulded legs, which still have their original wide-profile brass castors attached.

The condition is fantastic throughout. It has been sympathetically restored and retains its original rich French polished finish, which has a wonderful lustre with very few marks for its age. Importantly, it still has its original lead lining inside with the eight-section bottle divider to keep wine cool. The lid stays open on its original quadrant hinges and the original warded brass lock is working with its key.

We've checked the piece over thoroughly; while there was some historic woodworm in the underside rails, this has been fully treated to ensure it's in home-ready condition. It's a great size to use as a side table next to a sofa, and with the functional lock, it's a perfect way to keep a small collection of spirits or wine safely tucked away. The solid brass carry handles on either side are original as well, showing a lovely natural patina that really rounds off the piece.

Please note this item is in beautiful condition for its age as shown in the photographs below however being an antique item it does have the odd minor blemish here and there. However, we feel that these points are which adds charm and character to a piece.
