Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Guilloche enamel is a decorative technique where a low-relief geometric pattern is engraved into silver or gold using a lathe, then covered with translucent coloured enamel. When set, light reflects through the enamel off the underlying metal, creating a shimmering optical effect popular on early twentieth-century dressing table accessories.

These vessels typically feature a clear or cut-glass body paired with a solid silver cap or collar. The silver top was decorated using engine-turning machinery before firing enamel vitreous glazes, often fitting over an internal glass stopper to seal the perfume.

Authentic French silver pieces generally feature official hallmarks, such as the Minerva head punch mark for sterling grade silver, alongside a makers mark enclosed in a diamond-shaped lozenge. Examining the glass reveals wheel-cut or hand-etched decoration rather than modern molded seams.

An antique scent bottle works effectively when placed on a marble vanity tray, bedside table, or bathroom shelf alongside contemporary glass jars. Grouping items of varying heights adds visual interest while preserving the items original decorative intent.

Enamel should be cleaned gently using a soft, damp microfibre cloth without abrasive polish, as thermal shock or chemical cleaners can cause chipping. Silver elements should be lightly buffed with a dedicated silver cloth to manage oxidisation without disturbing the adjacent enamel.
