Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Moorish Revival furniture originated in the late 19th century, inspired by Islamic architecture, North African woodwork, and Middle Eastern design. Popularised by retailers such as Liberty & Co, these pieces frequently incorporate horseshoe arches, lattice spindle work, and tiered display shelves.

These items are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or walnut, featuring turned spindle galleries, carved brackets, and hand-joined panelling framing a central silvered mirror plate.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved architectural detailing, natural timber ageing, original backing boards, and traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon joints without modern hidden screws or synthetic adhesives.

An overmantel mirror can be mounted directly above a fireplace, console table, or hallway sideboard to create a focal point. Combining dark wood frames with contemporary neutral walls highlights the architectural shadow lines and intricate fretwork.

Dust the woodwork regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish. Avoid using harsh chemical sprays directly on the glass or surrounding timber to prevent moisture ingress and wood damage.
