D and A Binder Ltd has dated this Brass Drapers Display Stand to the 1910s.

Likely originally used in a draper’s or outfitter’s shop for the display of lightweight garments such as blouses, shirtwaists or tops, with the twin curved arms designed to support fabric without creasing.

The stand features an adjustable height mechanism secured with a brass thumb screw, allowing it to be set at varying display levels. The shaped cast iron base provides excellent stability and retains its original surface with honest wear and traces of original black finish.

The sculptural, almost Art Nouveau-influenced form gives the piece strong visual presence, making it equally suitable today as a shop fitting, showroom display, or sculptural interior accent
