A fine example of a late 17thc English bronze mortar from the Suffolk ''X'' foundry, which refers to an unidentified late 17thc bronze mortar foundry located in Suffolk, likely near Bury St. Edmunds....it stands on a raised broad base and has a wide flared out rim and is cast with an elaborate head-dress in an inverted tear-drop pattern...four times....the mortar is in very good condition for its great age, with a fine natural patina.
English -Suffolk C1670-90.
