Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in the mid-18th century and named after the Countess of Pembroke, these portable tables featured drop leaves and frieze drawers. Designed for flexible dining, tea service, or bedside writing, they were favoured in historic British homes for their space-saving functionality.

Traditional examples were constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. Features include hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, wooden rule joints along the hinged drop leaves, and hand-turned wooden legs.

Authentic period pieces show signs of age-related wear, hand-planed timber undersides, original wooden drawer knobs or brass hardware, and irregular hand-cut dovetails. Original leaf support brackets, or wooden rule joints, should operate smoothly.

Place the table against a wall or beside seating as an occasional side table with both leaves folded down. Extend one or both leaves to serve as a compact breakfast table, laptop desk, or display surface for lamp light and decorative objects.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timber patina. Avoid placing the table directly near heat sources or in direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and movement.
