Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Frisian Stoelklok, or stool clock, is a traditional Dutch weight-driven wall clock characterized by its wooden bracket support, painted dial, and ornate cast gilt metal embellishments. Originating in the Friesland region of the Netherlands during the eighteenth century, these timepieces often feature regional landscape artwork and decorative mermaid or crest motifs.

These clocks are constructed using oak or walnut for the wooden support frame and backboard, cast brass or lead for decorative crestings and weights, and hand-painted wooden panels for the clock face. The movement mechanisms typically utilise brass gearing and iron framing.

Authentic examples feature hand-painted dials often depicting maritime scenes or countryside landscapes, cast brass ornamentation attached to the wooden frame, exposed weights suspended on chains, and a distinct open bracket design known as the stoel (stool).

A Frisian wall clock serves as a strong architectural accent when hung on a neutral wall in a hallway, dining area, or study. Pairing it with traditional wooden furniture or placing it in a contemporary scheme adds historical contrast and visual texture.

Maintain the clock by ensuring the bracket is mounted completely level on the wall to allow the pendulum to swing freely. Dust the wooden case regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and have the mechanical movement lubricated and inspected by a professional horologist every three to five years.
