Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Staffordshire figures are earthenware ornaments produced in the Staffordshire potteries district of England, primarily during the 18th and 19th centuries. They were designed as accessible decorative items for domestic homes, depicting famous figures, military heroes, royalty, and everyday trades.

These figures were created using moulded earthenware clay and coated in a white or cream lead glaze. Details were subsequently hand-painted using enamel colours or underglaze pigments before a final firing process.

Authentic Victorian pieces generally feature small vent holes from the moulding process, smooth unglazed undersides, and evidence of hand-applied paint application. Many original figures were left unmarked by their manufacturers, so identification relies on subject matter, weight, glaze condition, and painting style.

Pair these sculpted earthenware pieces with minimalist glass shelves, place them on a mantelpiece alongside books, or integrate them into a curated display cabinet to create visual contrast against modern painted walls.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush. Avoid immersing earthenware in water or using harsh chemical cleaning products, as water can penetrate fine crazing lines in the glaze and damage delicate overglaze enamels.
