We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Maps from this era, particularly those engraved by cartographers like Robert Morden, were produced using etched copper plates printed onto handmade rag paper. They frequently feature elaborate decorative cartouches, heraldic details, mileage scales, and hand-applied watercolour tinting along county boundaries.

These works were printed using oil-based inks applied to copper plates and pressed onto heavy, hand-laid linen or rag paper. Hand colouring was subsequently applied using mineral and plant-based watercolours.

Authentic period engravings display a distinct impressed plate mark around the edge of the printed area, paper with visible wire lines and watermarks when backlit, and natural paper ageing such as gentle foxing or toning.

Framed cartography works effectively when hung above a sideboard, positioned within a gallery wall arrangement, or placed in a study or hallway to add historical visual interest to contemporary or traditional schemes.

Paper artworks should be housed using acid-free archival mounting board, framed behind UV-filtering glass, and kept clear of direct sunlight, dampness, and fluctuating humidity.
