Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

First developed in France during the early nineteenth century, carriage clocks were designed as portable timepieces for travellers. They typically feature sturdy brass cases, glass panels to view the interior movement, and a top handle for transportation.

Carriage clocks are traditionally constructed using cast and polished brass for the outer casing, bevelled glass plates for the viewing windows, and fired vitreous enamel for the dial face.

Authentic period examples generally display French movement stamps or serial numbers on the back plate, hand-painted enamel dials, and heavy solid brass construction with original platform escapements.

A brass carriage clock can be placed on a fireplace mantelpiece, styled alongside books on a shelving unit, or positioned on a writing desk to add a focal point within modern or traditional decor.

Dust the exterior regularly with a soft dry cloth and avoid chemical cleaners that can strip the lacquer or metal patina. The internal mechanical movement requires periodic servicing by a qualified horologist.
