For Sale by Arundel Clocks
Description

Hi

I have for sale a 1900s French solid silver miniature carriage clock made in France, which was fully restored both movement/platform and case , the case is a watch holder with the watch..

The Case

The case is in solid hallmarked silver and stands 10cm high x 7cm wide with a depth of 3cm it is in very good condition with mint convex glass front.

he Dial

The dial is in good original condition in white porcelain.

The Movement

The movement is a thirty-hour time-only; the movement has been cleaned, serviced and oiled so keeping good time over 30 hours via the original cleaned/serviced platform.

Overall, a very beautiful small enamel clock by a quality French maker that looks stunning on display and contains all of its original features. This is quite a rare find these days.

I had trouble with the photos because of their size and deep shine; it is much better in the flesh.

I will post worldwide.

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French guilloche enamel travel clock is a compact portable timepiece characterised by engine-turned metal engraving covered with translucent tinted enamel. Produced predominantly around the turn of the 20th century, these objects combined precision horology with decorative metalwork.

These timepieces are generally constructed with silver or gilt-bronze cases, featuring engine-turned silver or copper bases beneath vitreous enamel. Dials are usually made from fired white enamel with hand-painted numerals and metal hands.

Authentic pieces feature fine, uniform geometric patterns cut into the underlying metal that catch the light beneath the smooth enamel layer. Look for makers marks or silver hallmarks along the casing edges and base, along with mechanical key-wind or stem-wind movements.

Miniature clocks are positioned on bedside tables, writing desks, or mantelpieces to serve as detailed decorative accents. Their compact proportions allow them to sit alongside books, framed artwork, or trinket trays without overwhelming the space.

Enamel surfaces should be cleaned gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to avoid scratching the surface. Silver components require light buffing with silver polishing cloths, taking care to prevent polish from contacting the enamel or clock glass.
