Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century rural France, a housekeepers cupboard, often designed as a buffet deux corps, is a large two-tier timber storage unit used for storing household linens, tableware, and pantry items.

These cupboards were predominantly constructed from solid regional hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or fruitwood, featuring mortise-and-tenon joinery along with hand-forged iron or steel escutcheons and hinges.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-sawn timber marks, wooden peg construction, fielded panel doors with hand-carved Louis XV scroll motifs, and extended iron external barrel hinges.

A tall oak cupboard functions as a focal storage piece in modern dining spaces, kitchens, or spacious hallways, pairing effectively with neutral plastered walls and natural linen textiles.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage, dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish annually to preserve the wood finish.
