Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian easy chairs typically feature deep buttoned upholstery, padded armrests, and low-slung frames designed for informal lounging. Introduced in the mid-19th century, these pieces incorporated show-wood timber frames made from fine hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany.

These chairs were constructed using solid hardwood frames, traditional hand-tied coil springs, and horsehair padding. Upholstery was finished in hand-dyed hide or heavy velvets, held in place with deep buttoning and metal studs.

Authentic Victorian examples often feature hand-carved details on the arm terminals and legs, brass castors, and evidence of hand-stitching along the upholstery seams. Natural age patina, wear to the leather hide, and original webbing underneath further confirm period authenticity.

A pair of leather button-back armchairs works well as focal seating in a study, reading nook, or living room alongside a minimalist side table. Mixing dark timber and aged leather with contemporary lighting or clean-lined architecture creates a balanced contrast.

Keep leather furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent drying and cracking. Treat the hide regularly with a specialist leather wax or balm, and gently clean carved rosewood frames with a soft cloth and beeswax polish.
