Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1830 and 1837, William IV furniture bridges the refined lines of the Regency era and the heavier decorative forms of the early Victorian period. Common features include rich mahogany timber, robust turned feet, and prominent decorative turnings such as spiral or rope twists.

High-grade Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently featuring flame mahogany veneers on drawer fronts, was the preferred primary timber. Hand-dovetailed drawer joints, oak or pine secondary linings, and cast brass knobs or handles were standard construction elements.

Look for evidence of historic hand-craftsmanship, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original oak secondary timber inside the drawers, and period-correct hardware. William IV pieces often feature bold turned or spiral-twisted side columns and smooth, gentle bowfront contours.

A compact mahogany chest functions exceptionally well in a hallway, bedroom, or living space as an accent piece. Pair warm mahogany tones with neutral walls, contemporary ceramics, and simple table lamps to balance traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalism.

Dust regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent drying or movement in the veneer.
