Marianne Brandt Bauhaus Owl Bookends

1900 - 1920
Description

A great pair of early 20th century metal owl bookends designed by Marianne Brandt who was part of the Bauhaus movement in Germany. A simple but effective design. The base is marked with the manufacturers stamp “Roppel” present on both bookends but one is not very clear. Both show some signs of wear commensurate with age and use, one is slightly lighter than the other, might have been in the sun.
