Antique Pearl and 1.62ct Diamond 15ct Yellow Gold Bar Brooch Circa 1900

1900 - 1920
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive antique pearl and 1.62 carat diamond, 15 carat yellow gold bar brooch; part of our antique pearl jewellery collection.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique pearl and diamond brooch has been crafted in 15ct yellow gold.

The yellow gold bar is ornamented to the centre with a cluster design.

The cluster is embellished with an impressive claw set 0.25ct Old European round cut diamond, encompassed with an array of six coloured natural pearls.

The central motif is encircled with six further claw set Old European round cut diamonds, totalling 1.37ct and completing the design.

The antique brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp fastening.

This antique Victorian brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 15 carat gold.

This antique pearl brooch is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report certificate for the feature stone, in addition to an IDGL diamond and gemstone grading report card for the supporting stones.

Such brooches in this rare combination are highly desirable.

This natural antique pearl and diamond brooch possesses a graceful and understated elegance, where the soft lustre of the pearls is complemented by the subtle brilliance of diamonds. This balanced composition gives the piece a refined presence suited to formal occasions, weddings and elegant daytime events. It may be worn traditionally on a lapel or dress, or styled more creatively to accent a scarf or define the waist of an evening gown.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This antique Victorian brooch is exceptional quality, set with impressive natural pearls displaying fine colour and presence.

The high colour graded diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance.

The brooch is an exceptional gauge of gold and is in exceptional condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique pearl jewellery/estate jewelry.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bar brooches from the late 19th and early 20th centuries typically feature a straight metal pin adorned with a central motif, such as a floral cluster or geometric setting. Popularised during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, these pieces were designed to secure lace collars, scarves, or lapels with functional elegance.

Brooches from circa 1900 were commonly crafted in 15ct or 18ct yellow gold, set with natural pearls and old-cut diamonds. Settings frequently incorporated claw or collet work in silver or gold to highlight the central gemstones.

Authentic pieces often feature period-specific hallmarks, such as 15ct or 625 stamps common in Britain prior to 1932, along with original pin fittings like simple C-clasps. The presence of hand-cut diamonds and natural, slightly irregular pearls also points to period authenticity.

A classic bar brooch can be pinned to the lapel of a modern tailored jacket, fastened at the collar of a shirt, or attached to a silk scarf. It can also be converted by a jeweller into a pendant for a contemporary necklace.

Pearls require gentle care and should be wiped with a soft, damp cloth after wear without submersion in liquid. Clean surrounding gold and diamonds using a dry polishing cloth, and store the brooch flat in a lined box away from humidity.
