Art Deco Platinum Diamond Cocktail Watch 2.00ct Swiss Jewelled Lever C1930

1920 - 1940
Description

Art Deco Platinum and Diamond Cocktail Watch with Fully Diamond-Set Bracelet, circa 1930

An exceptional Art Deco platinum and diamond cocktail watch, dating to circa 1930, distinguished by its fully diamond-set articulated bracelet and refined geometric design.

The rectangular platinum case is set with thirty-two eight-cut diamonds within a finely milgrained border, framing a silvered dial with black Arabic numerals and blued steel hands. The case is flanked by elegant stepped shoulders, transitioning seamlessly into a flexible bracelet entirely set with graduating round-cut diamonds, creating a continuous line of brilliance around the wrist.

In total, the watch contains approximately 2.00 carats of diamonds, well matched for colour and clarity, and mounted in finely executed platinum settings characteristic of the finest Art Deco jewellery.

The watch is powered by a Swiss jewelled lever movement and is fitted with a concealed clasp and original safety chain. Both highly wearable and collectable, this piece represents the fusion of horology and high jewellery typical of the finest workshops of the period.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco cocktail watches, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, are characterised by geometric cases, white precious metals such as platinum, and dense diamond embellishments designed to function as evening jewellery.

High-grade cocktail watches from this era feature solid platinum or white gold settings, pave-set diamonds, sapphire or mineral crystal glass, and mechanical manual-wind movements with jewelled lever escapements.

Authentic period pieces feature metal purity hallmarks inside or outside the case back, fine millegrain borders around stone settings, period-correct geometric typography on the dial, and mechanical Swiss movements.

An Art Deco cocktail watch functions as a piece of fine wrist jewellery, pairing well with formal evening attire or worn alongside fine platinum and white gold bracelets for contemporary occasions.

Keep the watch protected from moisture due to the limited water resistance of vintage cases, avoid over-winding the mechanical mainspring, and arrange for a professional watchmaker to service the movement every three to five years.
