Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Delft charger is a large circular display or serving dish made from tin-glazed earthenware, originating in the Netherlands or England during the 17th and 18th centuries. These pieces were decorated with cobalt blue lead glaze designs inspired by imported Chinese porcelain.

Early Delftware was crafted from earthenware clay fired with an opaque white tin glaze, creating a surface suitable for hand-painted decoration. Artisans painted designs using metallic oxides, such as cobalt blue, before a second firing fixed the glaze and pigments.

Authentic pieces display a soft, buff-coloured earthenware body beneath the glaze, often visible where small chips or fritting occur around the rim. They feature hand-painted cobalt brushwork with natural slight variations, pinholes in the glaze, and an absence of modern factory marks.

A historic charger functions well as a focal point on a mantelpiece, wall display, or sideboard top. Pairing cobalt blue ceramics with dark timber furniture or neutral walls creates contrast within traditional or eclectic design schemes.

Dust the surface gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or brush, avoiding immersion in water which can damage porous earthenware bodies. Keep away from direct heat sources and high humidity to preserve fragile lead and tin glazes.
