This is a fine quality set of six antique English Chippendale style mahogany dining chairs, with a Neo-Gothic / Neoclassical design, circa 1890, with newly upholstered seats in excellent condition. The six Chippendale dining chairs are constructed of solid top-quality mahogany. The six mahogany dining chairs feature a straight top rail, embossed with floral central caved motif, flanked by matching carvings on the ears. Below, is a Gothic inspired pierced central fretwork back splat, flanked by vertical rails, secured to a moulded seat frame. The drop-in seats have been newly upholstered to a professional in a top-quality taupe structured cotton upholstery. The underside of the seats has been finished with tradition hessian backing. The seats are therefore in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are also generously filled to ensure they are firm but comfortable at the same time – you do not sink into the seat. If you do not like the fabric, we will recover the seats in a fabric of your choice (we charge £25 labour per seat). The six Chippendale dining chairs are constructed with fluted block legs to the front and sabre legs to the rear, united by ‘H’ stretchers for additional strength.

Condition Report:

The six Chippendale dining chairs have been cleaned and French polished and all loose joints have been glued in our workshop; therefore, the chairs are solid in joint. The seats have been finished with tradition hessian backing to the undersides. Therefore, the seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are well padded and firm but comfortable at the same time – you do not sink into the seat. If you do not like the fabric, we will recover the seats in a fabric of your choice (we charge £25 labour per seat). As these six mahogany dining chairs retain the original patination, the frames boast a lovely original colour. They are a heavy set of chairs, which is a good sign of quality. They are solid in joint (not loose or wobbly) and are ready to use.
