Prometheus Antiques has dated this Italian Watercolour After Correggio to the 1880s.
The colours are bright and true and the whole is in very good condition. The reverse shows that the work was created in Rome but the artist’s name is somewhat illegible. The painting was most likely purchased in Italy and framed in England. The superb gilt frame is the original and retains the original gilding with just some minor areas of restoration. The whole is an excellent example of this type of Grand Tour work and has a wonderful country house look. C.1880.
