Description

This is an antique cocktail cabinet. An English, mahogany and boxwood counterweighted dry bar, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1895.

Exceptional cabinetry with a striking appearance and superb mechanical interest

Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order

Select stocks present fine grain interest and rich russet hues

Lighter boxwood inlay adds a sophistication to the finish throughout

A treat of functionality, the fold-out top activating the counterweighted serving area

Concealed until required, a glass caddy rises from within the frame at the back of the cabinet

Hosting a pair of tumbler glasses within a brass stanchion, beneath a rack for eight shot glasses

Each side of the folding top hosts a recessed bottle platform with raised plinth behind

Upper lock mechanism engraved for Albert Barker, maker and silversmith to Queen Victoria — key absent

Faux drawer front elegantly dressed with a pair of circular brass pulls, accentuated with bead detail

The fall-front fascia conceals a generous cabinet, held securely by a renowned Bramah lock — key present

The fall articulates smoothly upon a striking pair of brass support arms

Internal pressure lever releases the lower storage drawer when the fall front is opened
