French Art Deco “Veilleuses” Lamp

1920 - 1940
Description

Manufactured circa 1930 in France by Limoges this. “Night lamp” is known as “Arabian nights”.

Referred to as an “veilleuses”

Rare to find in such remarkable condition

The bulb has been removed , however these lamps were designed as night lights to have an essential oil deposited.

The oils would then be gently warmed through the porcelain by the bulb and whilst providing a warm

Ambient glow they would diffuse the air with the scent of the oils.

The figurines are a male and female, the moulded body of the two has been hand painted and decorated.

Manufactured 1930, these were exceptionally innovative for the period, but exceptionally reflective of the evocative period.

This stands 28cm tall and is in exceptional condition.
