N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this Gilt Champleve Easel Clock to the Edwardian era.
The gilt chapter ring is set out with Arabic numerals and to the bottom is reads '8 DAYS SWISS MADE' with the center having a lovely painted scene.
Below the dial is signed 'The Goldsmith and Silversmith Co Ltd 112 Regents St. W'. This large business of retail jewellers and silversmiths was established in 1880 at 112 Regent Street. The original partners were William Gibson and John Lawrence Langman. Following the absorption in 1893 of the Goldsmiths' Alliance Ltd, the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co was coverted into a limited liability company. In 1952 the company was amalgamated with Garrard & Co.
The back of the frame then has a shaped stand with folds out so that the clock stands correctly.
The movement is then wound and adjusted from the back and is happily ticking away. The back also has a slow and fast adjuster protected by a small sliding door. Finally the back of the movement is stamped 'SWISS MADE' and 'DOXO WATCH MY SWISS' and the rear of the case is stamped '108028'.
Approximate MAXIMUM dimensions with the clock in it's standing position are : 7 cm wide x 5.5 cm deep x 9 cm high
CONDITION: The clock is in lovely condition just minor marks commensurate with age and use. The clock is happily ticking away. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition, as what you view is exactly what you will receive.
