Description

Beloved of so many grand country houses, the Ziegler carpet brings so much to the table. A weaving workshop set up in Iran at the end of the 19th century by the Anglo-Swiss firm of Ziegler to produce spectacular carpets for the European and American markets. They chose traditional designs, expanded them and used richly coloured by harmonious yarns to weave high quality furnishing carpets that were extremely popular in their day and continue to be to this day. Here we see the prayer arch and a hanging lantern, with vases issuing flowering plants around a large central tree. A stunning and timeless piece of art that will transform your room and be a fascinating conversation piece. Showing wear and repair to the red field which suggests the dye itself may have been corrosive, it is otherwise in good condition and ready for another 130 years!
