Antique Furniture Direct has dated this Edwardian Campaign Backrest to the Edwardian era.
In solid stained satin birch it is adjustable to seven different elevations and the foot is also hinged to reduce its depth for use in a confined space. With label for Leveson & Sons.
Leveson and Sons of 90 New Oxford St. and 21 Park Side, Knightsbridge, London were highly regarded cabinet makers trading around 1870-1915. They specialised in furniture with mechanical invention, adjustable reading tables and furniture for the war injured and disabled. Because the furniture was portable and adjustable it was also used by officers during military campaigns.
