Narrow English Regency Cabinet Bookcase, Gillows, C1830

K0 An exhibition quality and very elegant English Regency / George IV rosewood side cabinet / bookcase, having a super structure with an original three quarter brass gallery and original foxed mirror with that desirable sparkle, all raised on slender turned columns terminating in well figured rosewood top. Shallow frieze with moulding above a single glazed door enclosing two height adjustable shelves and fitted with original working lock and key, and later pleated panel all flanked by fine drop carvings. The cabinet is raised on original solid rosewood bun feet. This antique cabinet retains its original finish which has been revived and waxed, original deep colour and good patina. The cabinet is in home ready condition, showing some commensurate with age signs of usage adding to its antique character. No splits, cracks or breaks to the top, side or doors. No woodworm, sturdy, wobble free. This outstanding cabinet would grace any home. Although the cabinet is not stamped the quality and design suggest a highly skilled maker, possibly Gillows. c1830
