Description

This fabulous articulated antique puppet doll figure of a black male which dates from the early 19th century is handmade of wood, has a straw filled body, wire joints, movable limbs and would have once had strings attached to the limbs in order to make them move.

This antique mannequin puppet figure which originates from France is a tall chap at 61 cm high, has a carved face, original hand stitched clothing which include long trousers, jacket with metal buttons, red sash and has with a hanging loop to the top of his head.

A rare and collectible piece of folk art.

Dimensions: Width: 18 cm (7"). Depth: 9 cm (3 1/2"). Height: 61 cm (24").

Weight: 816 g.

Condition: Good antique condition with lots of age related wear giving a wonderful decorative look. Some chips, wear, missing pieces, old repairs and wear. Padding missing from one arm. Some old woodworm which has been treated. Please see pictures.
