Rawlings Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The front is beautifully decorated with bold geometric and foliate carving, including a central lozenge panel with carved rosette motif, flanked by stylised designs and framed by a continuous carved frieze. The deep, hand-carved detailing gives the piece strong presence and wonderful texture, showcasing the skill of the original craftsman.

The coffer features a traditional hinged lift-up lid, opening to reveal a generous storage compartment — ideal for blankets, linens, clothing, or general household storage. The interior retains a lovely aged patina consistent with its age.

Constructed in solid oak with pegged joints, the piece stands on sturdy stile supports and has developed a rich, warm colour over centuries, with natural wear adding to its authenticity and appeal.
