Set of Six Late 19th-Century Mahogany Hepplewhite-Style Dining Chairs

A very good set of six late 19th-century mahogany dining chairs in the Hepplewhite revival style, dating to circa 1870–1885. Each chair features an elegant bowed top rail above a finely carved and pierced splat, centred by a wheat-sheaf crest and framed by flowing interlaced motifs and moulded borders. The frames are constructed in dense, well-figured mahogany with rich colour and good weight, reflecting the high standard of Victorian cabinetmaking in the revival of late Georgian neoclassical designs.

The chairs stand on reeded, square-tapering front legs with gently splayed rear supports, giving the set both refinement and stability. The seats are traditionally upholstered and covered in a high-quality dark blue horsehair fabric. A well-proportioned and visually appealing set, combining the elegance of Hepplewhite design with the durability and comfort expected of late 19th-century construction.
