Worcester Porcelain Cup And Saucer In Dragon In Compartments Pattern, Flight Barr & Barr, C.1815

£600    $811    €689
English porcelain cup and saucer from the Flight, Barr & Barr period, produced at the Worcester Porcelain Manufactory between 1813 and 1840. The sixteen-sided fluted form with concave scalloped walls is decorated in the renowned Dragon in Compartments pattern, featuring a dragon and kylin in alternating lobed panels with reserves of vases and precious objects. Executed in vibrant famille-verte enamels with restrained gilding to rims and handle. Introduced at Worcester in the late 1760s, this pattern became one of the factory’s most prestigious and long-established decorative designs, continuing through the Regency era when Worcester porcelain reached exceptional technical and artistic standards.

The bases bear the impressed crowned FBB mark and retain a collector’s label from The Flight Collection, formed by Lord Howard Emerson Flight, descendant of the original Worcester proprietors. Selected pieces from this historic family collection have appeared at Bonhams and Toovey’s auctions...
