A Victorian chest of drawers in a truly outstanding condition.
This unusually high quality chest of drawers features a lovely and very unusual speckled grain Solid Mahogany top finished with a nicely moulded edge and the finest Flame grain Mahogany veneer to the drawer fronts. The chest is also complete with its original finely turned Mahogany knobs and brass keyhole escutcheons to front its original brass lever locks (no keys).
This fine chest of drawers is in a truly outstanding original condition and retains its original and highly sought after lightly faded Mahogany colour and deep glazed French polished finish throughout.
The drawers are Mahogany sided and complete with their original blue paper lining in fantastic condition with few marks or stains. The drawers also show their extremely fine hand-cut dovetails on the sides when the drawers are opened, showcasing its quality craftsmanship. The drawers all run very smoothly, operating with little to no drawer wear and without ever having any repairs to the runners. To finish, the chest of drawers stands proudly on its original simple plinth.
We have carefully cleaned and waxed this chest, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen. The chest has been sympathetically restored and thoroughly checked over in our workshop so is solid with no loose joints or wobbles and has never had any woodworm.
Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
