This is a good quality vintage English 16th century style oak bookcase, in the style of “Old Charm” furniture, with two open shelves and a two-door cupboard base, circa 1930, in excellent original condition. ...r style oak bookcase is decorated with a lunette wavy carved frieze, scroll shaped corbels, flanked by fluted columns. This English bookcase features two open shelves (the shelf heights are fixed but the central shelf can be removed if required). Below, is a useful storage or cupboard area, comprising two inset panel doors, decorated with lozenge shaped etchings, interspersed by a central reeded stile. The cupboard is deal for storing paperwork or other objects. The doors retain the original hinges and knobs, including the door closure latches. The 16th century style oak bookcase stands on its original block moulded feet and retains its original backboards and floorboards.
This Old Charm bookcase boasts a lovely period oak colour. The oak bookcase has been cleaned and wax polished, by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination are of an excellent standard, along with age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This 16th century style oak bookcase would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the office, library or living room. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.
Condition Report:
Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. This Tudor style oak bookshelf boasts a lovely period oak colour. The oak bookcase has been cleaned and wax polished, by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination are of an excellent standard, along with age and years of care and cleaning it has received. All parts are intact, with no missing sections are carvings. The cupboard section below retains its original hinges, door knobs and latches. The Tudor style oak bookcase stands on its original block feet and retains its original backboards. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
