Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Spinning chairs were originally designed with low seats and high, narrow backs to allow spinners freedom of movement while operating a traditional spinning wheel. Over time, particularly during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, they evolved into decorative regional craft pieces within Welsh country homes.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from dense native hardwoods such as solid oak, walnut, or beech. Construction typically relies on traditional joinery with hand-carved decorative motifs applied directly to the timber backrest and seat.

Authentic period examples display signs of hand-planing, pegged joints, and uneven wear on turned legs and footrests. Look for deep, hand-carved ornamentation with a natural aged patina and slight irregularities consistent with hand tools.

Due to their narrow profile and strong sculptural shape, spinning chairs function well as accent pieces in compact spaces such as entryways, fireplace alcoves, or stairwells. They add historic texture when paired alongside contemporary clean-lined furnishings.

Maintain carved oak by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and damp environments to prevent wood shrinkage or cracking.
