A fine and authentic ottoman, late 18th century Indo-Persian Kullah Khud helmet of traditional forged steel construction, dating circa 1780–1820.
The hemispherical bowl is engraved with a bold lower band of calligraphic script beneath finely hand-cut foliate panels arranged in vertical reserves. The helmet retains its original tall crown spike of correct baluster form, sliding nasal bar with pierced plate, and both side plume holders.
The original riveted chain-mail aventail remains attached, protecting the neck and shoulders, with expected minor losses to some links consistent with age and use.
The surface displays untouched age patination and even oxidation, with no evidence of modern over-cleaning. A well-preserved and honest fighting example from the late Mughal / post-Mughal period.
