Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau metalwork, prominent from roughly 1890 to 1910, is characterised by sinuous, flowing lines inspired by natural forms. Key elements include whiplash curves, stylized botanical stems, flower buds, and asymmetric organic structures that move away from classical geometric symmetry.

Most Art Nouveau candlesticks were produced using lost-wax casting or sand casting in bronze, brass, or pewter. Castings were often finished with gilding, patination, or cold-chasing to highlight delicate natural textures and organic forms.

Authentic pieces usually display high-quality hand-chasing, crisp organic detail, and balanced weight consistent with cast bronze. Look for foundry stamps, designer signatures, and age-appropriate surface oxidisation or patina within the recessed details.

Place a pair of organic bronze candlesticks on a minimalist fireplace mantelpiece, dining table, or sideboard to create visual contrast. The fluid sculptural shapes complement both classic interiors and contemporary minimalist schemes.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush to remove accumulation in crevices. Avoid chemical metal polishes or abrasive cleaners, as these can strip original gilding and patination.
