Large Daum Frčres Art Nouveau Cameo Glass Vase with Sweet Pea Motif, Nancy, circa 1900–1915
An exceptional large Art Nouveau cameo glass vase by Daum Frčres, Nancy, dating to circa 1900–1915. The vase is crafted from multi-layered glass and finely acid-etched to create a raised relief of sweet pea blossoms and trailing foliage, a favoured floral motif of the period.
The decoration is further enhanced with hand-applied enamel highlights in green, pink, mauve, and purple, adding depth and painterly richness to the sculptural surface. The ground is composed of opaque white-yellow opalescent glass, graduating to a deep orange and yellow suffusion at the base, creating a warm, luminous effect characteristic of Daum’s finest Art Nouveau production.
The elegant form features a bulbous lower body, a tall tapering neck, and a flared, softly undulating rim, emphasizing verticality and organic movement in keeping with Art Nouveau design principles.
The vase bears an acid-etched “Daum
...Nancy” signature with the Cross of Lorraine to the lower body, confirming authentic production by the Daum workshops in Nancy, France.
A highly decorative and substantial example, suitable as a focal point in an Art Nouveau, Art Glass, or fine decorative arts collection.
