Bushells Antiques has dated this French Bronze Musketeer Sculpture to the 19th Century.
He stands in a dynamic pose with his left hand resting on his hip and his right hand holding a sheathed sword at his side. A strap is draped diagonally across his chest. The figure is mounted on an integral circular bronze base which is signed "Drouot". Affixed to the front of this base is a rectangular plaque inscribed with the title "LE BRETTEUR" and "XIVE SIÈCLE".

The sculpture features a varied brown patina with lighter reddish-brown tones across the high points of the drapery and musculature, suggesting natural wear. The casting details are highly defined, including the folds of the clothing, the facial features, and the decorative elements of the sword hilt and spurs. The figure is mounted on an additional, separate ebonized wood base with a stepped edge.
