Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian furniture spans the reigns of King George I through King George IV (17141830) and is characterised by symmetrical proportions, classic decorative motifs, and the widespread use of high-grade timber such as mahogany and walnut.

Primary woods typically included solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, while secondary woods used for drawer linings and internal carcasses were commonly pine, oak, or deal. Hardware generally comprised cast brass handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, original hand-planed timber surfaces on cabinet backs, and hand-cast brass hardware that shows natural oxidisation and uneven hand-finishing.

Place the piece against neutral or deeply painted walls to highlight the rich mahogany grain, pairing it with contemporary artwork or structured table lamps to create a balanced contrast between historic and modern elements.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish. Position the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber cracking and colour fading.
