A very attractive and well-proportioned William IV mahogany three-tier wot-not, dating to circa 1830.
Constructed in beautifully figured Cuban mahogany, this elegant early 19th century stand features three practical tiers supported by finely turned uprights, each capped with delicate ring turnings typical of the William IV period. The upper tier is framed by turned finials, adding architectural balance and refinement.
Beneath the lower tier sits a useful single drawer with original turned wooden knob and oak-lined sides, retaining crisp dovetail construction. The drawer provides discreet storage, making the piece both decorative and practical.
The wot-not stands on its original brass cup castors, allowing easy movement — an important survival and a desirable original feature.
With its slender proportions and classical form, this piece would work beautifully as a Regency or William IV occasional stand, a hall table alternative, a lamp stand, or for displaying porcelain, scul
...pture or books. The quality of timber and understated elegance make it a versatile addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
