Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Lamour pattern was designed by engraver Robert Hancock for the Worcester porcelain factory during the First Period circa 1751 to 1783. It features a Rococo romantic scene of a suitor courting a lady in a garden, executed via copper-plate transfer printing.

First Period Worcester ceramics were crafted from soft-paste porcelain incorporating soaprock steatite from Cornwall to increase thermal shock resistance. Decorative patterns were applied using monochrome enamel transfer prints and occasionally finished with gilded rims.

Authentic First Period pieces consist of soaprock soft-paste porcelain that exhibits a greenish translucency when held against strong light. Collectors also look for integrated engraver initials within the transfer design, underglaze blue factory marks, and slight surface wear on the unglazed footrim.

An antique porcelain cup can be displayed on a sideboard top, arranged within a glazed cabinet, or styled on a bookshelf alongside framed art. Placing detailed monochrome ceramics against plain, neutral surfaces highlights their line engravings.

Clean soft-paste porcelain by hand using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent, taking care not to scrub gilded areas. Avoid soaking the piece, keep it out of dishwashers, and protect it from rapid temperature changes.
