Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in England during the early 18th century, Windsor chairs are characterised by solid wooden seats into which the back spindles and legs are socketed. Unlike standard joined chairs, the legs and back uprights are held together using tension and wedged tenon joinery.

Windsor chairs were typically crafted using a combination of native hardwoods, such as elm for the shaped seat, ash or yew for bentwood hoops and spindles, and beech or oak for turned legs and stretchers.

Authentic antique examples often feature hand-shaped seats with visible adze marks, hand-turned legs, and socketed mortise and tenon joints fastened with wooden wedges rather than modern screws or synthetic adhesives.

A single Windsor armchair functions well as an accent piece alongside contemporary minimalist furniture, positioned in a reading corner, hallway, or alongside a neutral dining table setup.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to protect the timber and preserve the surface finish. Avoid direct heat sources and excessive moisture to prevent warping.
