Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Berry spoons are large serving utensils crafted during the 18th and early 19th centuries, designed specifically for serving soft fruits. Many plain Georgian table spoons were later embossed with fruit motifs during the Victorian era to match evolving dining fashions.

These spoons are crafted from solid sterling silver (925 purity) and frequently feature a gilt or vermeil wash over the interior of the bowl. The gold wash served both a decorative purpose and a functional one, protecting the silver from oxidisation caused by fruit acids.

Authentic British silver from this period bears a set of official hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling silver, a city mark, a makers mark, a date letter, and often a sovereign duty mark. Inspecting the clear alignment and wear of these stamped marks helps verify authenticity.

Antique silver spoons can be incorporated into contemporary dining settings as serving pieces for special occasions, displayed in decorative glass vessels on a sideboard, or laid out flat in a framed shadow box display.

Clean gently using warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth to avoid stripping the thin layer of gold gilding. Avoid harsh chemical polishes or abrasive pads on the interior bowl, and store pieces in anti-tarnish cloth pouches when not in use.
