Rare Victorian Silver and Sliced-cut Amber Glass Scent Bottle by Charles May, Birmingham 1899

Description

This exquisite and very unusual silver and cut glass scent bottle is dated Birmingham 1899 and bears the marks of Charles May, who specialised in perfume bottles. The rich kite-shaped amber coloured body exquisitely sliced-cut in diamond patterns. The neck fitted with a fully hallmarked hinged silver lid opening to reveal the original amber glass stopper.

Hallmarks:

CM for Charles May.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Date letter "z" for 1899.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions:

Height: 5cm / 2 inches.

Width: 4cm / 1.4 inches.

Depth: 2cm / 0.6 inches.

Condition:

Excellent.

No dings or dents, no holes to the lid.

Inner glass neck in perfect condition.

Glass stopper in good condition.
