Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement developed in the late nineteenth century as a reaction against industrial mass production, promoting honest craftsmanship, simple forms, and visible joinery. Furniture from this movement relies on timber grain, unpretentious geometric lines, and traditional natural materials like woven rush.

Arts and Crafts seating commonly featured hardwoods such as oak or mahogany, paired with woven rush, cane, or plain leather seats. Construction relied on traditional joinery methods, including mortise and tenon joints, emphasizing durability and structure.

Authentic pieces from around 1900 feature simple, functional proportions, tall vertical slats or spindles, and hand-woven rush or timber seats. Look for genuine patination on the wood, signs of hand construction, and an absence of heavy Victorian ornamental carving.

An Arts and Crafts side chair functions well as a standalone accent chair in a hallway, bedroom corner, or alongside a writing desk. Its clean vertical lines blend easily with contemporary minimalist decor, offering natural texture and historical grounding.

Keep the chair away from direct heat sources and dry environments to prevent the rush fibre from becoming brittle. Clean the timber with a soft dust cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly, while gently vacuuming the rush seat using a soft brush attachment.
