A large and heavy Victorian Sterling Silver box by Jane Brownett & Alexander Jones hallmarked for London 1878. Retailed in London.
Beautiful engine turning on all sides, the hinged cover opens to reveal a gilt interior.
The central cartouche has a crown or coronet engraved.
A very good quality piece of silver by excellent silversmiths.
Measuring 14 cm x 7 cm x 3 cm and weighs a hefty 186 grams.
In very good antique condition overall, the hallmarks are very good, there are a few dings/dents and surface scratches, gilding faded, usual signs of wear all commensurate of age and use.
