This unusual continental wooden wall shelf which dates from the 19th century has a wonderfully carved grotesque demon face on the bottom half.This antique shelf which has a beautiful dark patina is of nice quality with good detail to the demon face including staring eyes and an open mouth with teeth. The top half is nicely decorated with grapes, vines and floral decoration and the central shelf which has 11 round holes would have originally been used as a pipe rack for hanging and displaying your pipes.Today this could also be used for other small items or just used as a unique display piece that makes a great talking piece.
